I'm looking to buy a earbud with decent sound quality.

-- I don't need STRONG bass

The following 3 are my current preference, any advices would be very helpful, if you suggest other models, that'd good too!

1. Sony MDR-E818/828/848/888 (what's difference)

2. Sennheiser MX500

3. Koss KSC-35/50

Thanks!!

I have heard the Sony 888's are better than the other Sony's, but I don't have personal experience with them. They all differ, and listening is the only way to tell.

I did not like the Koss 35's I used to have. They were not very comfortable.

If you can spend a little more money, you might try the ER-6 eaphones from Etymotic. Check them out at www. headphone.com These guys have a 30 day return policy and excellent customer service.

Go for the MX500s, or the KSC-35s if you prefer "street-style" 'phones. Thankfully they sound rather decent.

(Don't touch the E818/E828)

The E838s lack a bit of bass, and are a bit harsh, the E848s are a nice all-rounder and the E888s are very, very nice but for $130AUD, the MX500s are FAR better value at $37AUD, and come very close to matching, and perhaps surpassing the E888s.

For the KSC-35/50s you might want a headphone amp, as the low output on most (ESPECIALLY Sony) MDs can't quite power them to their peak, but an amp is inconvieniant IMO, so I stick with my MX500s and D66s for MD. And most other things too. biggrin.gif

Leland: I checked out ER6, a decent earphone, but just cost too much for me. sad.gif thanks for info anyway

Mystyler: thanks for the detailed classification.

The KSC-35 is not for me cause I'm not in street style.

E888 and ER6 are beyond my budget.

I think I'll go for the MX-500 for the best value/price ratio.

thanks for the suggestions!
